Anoka-Ramsey Community College

Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC), with campuses in Cambridge and Coon Rapids, Minnesota, has been a provider of higher education and training in the north suburban area of Minneapolis–St. Paul and east central Minnesota since 1965. It is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system as a multi-campus institution.

Annually, the college serves more than 12,500 students as they pursue associate degrees (that may transfer as the first two years of a bachelor's degree), as well as certificate programs.

It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. This is the same accrediting body for many public and private colleges and Universities in several states across the country. All Anoka-Ramsey faculty have masters or doctoral degrees in their instructional fields.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College has grown considerably since its beginning in 1965 with 600 students in a wing of Centennial High School in Circle Pines. The college moved to the current Coon Rapids Campus of approximately 103 acres in 1967.

The Cambridge Campus opened in 1978 and has shown consistent growth in enrollment and facilities. In addition, throughout neighboring communities students may complete many Anoka-Ramsey college courses at convenient off-site locations.

There is a lifelong commitment to learning at Anoka-Ramsey, targeted to meet the needs of each individual student.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College can be a great choice for students, whether they are looking for a Certificate, an Associate's Degree, or a Bachelor's Degree. It offers a variety of two-year programs that are convenient for transferring into a four-year degree at Anoka-Ramsey or other four-year institutions. These two-year programs are popular with the students, and many students transfer into a four-year bachelor's degree program as a third-year or junior-level student. Students can choose to pursuit four types of degrees:

1. Associate in Arts Degree
2. Associate in Science Degree
3. Associate in Fine Arts Degree
4. Associate in Applied Science Degree

By bringing programs from other institutions to its Coon Rapids and Cambridge Campuses, ARCC has expanded students' access to four-year degrees. These programs include:

1. Business Administration - bachelor of science degree program offered by Metropolitan State University at the Coon Rapids Campus.

2. Fastrack License for Secondary Certification - bachelor of science degree program offered by Bemidji State University at the Coon Rapids Campus.

3. Nursing - bachelor of science degree program offered by Bemidji State University at the Cambridge Campus and Metro State University on the Coon Rapids Campus.

4. Special Education - bachelor of science leading to E/BD licensure offered by Minnesota State University Moorhead at the Cambridge Campus.

5. Teacher Education K-8 License - bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education offered by Bemidji State University at the Coon Rapids Campus.

ARCC offers a constructive life outside the classroom for the students. Throughout the year, Students, employees and the general public are welcome to attend and participate in the variety of social, educational, cultural and fundraising events. The vital part about the student life at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, are the multitude of vibrant activities.

The Student Activities Office highly supports extra-curricular programming. Many Academic clubs, civic and social clubs and organizations and other student activities are available to the students. They can also attend the numerous social, educational, and cultural events the Student Activities Office sponsors throughout the year. The Student Life Committees of both campuses and the Campus Programming Board on the Coon Rapids Campus are crucial in determining student programming for each campus.

There are transfer guides that help the students explore their possibilities and requirements for the college or majors they are considering. Transfer guides are available by college and by major. The general guides will keep the students on track even if all they currently know is which college they wish to transfer to.
