Bronx Community College

Bronx Community College was established back in 1957 as a result of civic-minded groups thinking who felt the need for higher education. This lead the foundation of the Bronx Community College of the City University of New York (BXCC).

The campus is spread over around 55 acres of land overlook the Harlem River.

The main purpose of the college is to make a student a well informed, responsible towards self and community and to make him a future contributing member of Bronx College Community.

It initially included New York's undergraduate college and an engineering school.

It also had a remarkable Hall of Fame for Great Americans, designed by Stanford White, and was established to acknowledge the contributions of Americans in building a sound history for the nation.

Bronx Community College has 35 academic programs to offer and enhance the academic experience of every student. A wide variety of degree and certificate programs are available to choose from. There are offers from fields such as nursing, nuclear medicine technology, media, digital technology and even criminal justice.

It now also includes the Center for Sustainable energy, being a great platform for those students wishing to pursue in alternative sources of energy.

The university also provides health education too under which services provided are Screening for Immunization Forms; Screening of Allied Health, Nursing, and Sports physical exam forms; and Over-the-counter medications.

The college has a lot more to offer other than just education. The campus life provides the students with the opportunities to meet fresh faces and develop leadership skills. They help in augmenting the student's academic, social and cultural experiences.

This school also has athletics. The college's sports team is divided into two -- one for women and the other for men. Men's team includes sports like baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer and track & field whereas women's team includes sports like basketball, volleyball and cross-country.

The college has an Educational Opportunity Center as well. Not only this, there is a Community Workforce Development Program and a Continuing and Professional Studies Program as well.

Their Continuing Education Program has specifically been designed in order to prepare a skilled workforce as per the needs and demands of the local industries.
